In order to offer our customers in Switzerland and Europe first-class meat from animals that have been kept under optimal conditions, we at GVFI rely on close cooperation with professional local partners – at every stage of production. Regular visits to the countries of origin enable us to maintain personal relationships and ensure the highest quality standards.
Our journeys begin on the farms, where cattle are kept in the most natural conditions on lush pastures. The cattle breeders impress with healthy, well-fed and clean animals that can roam freely on large pastures.
Over 90% of our imports from the southern hemisphere to Switzerland come from pasture-raised cattle. Only when the vegetation does not provide sufficient feed on the pasture for a short period of time are the cattle fed high-quality preserved feed.
Once they have reached their final weight, the animals are taken to slaughterhouses with which GVFI has long-standing business relationships and which are known for their quality and reliability. At these facilities, the meat is cut, packaged and chilled exactly according to our specifications.
The premium meat is transported from the facilities to Europe by ship or plane in a continuously refrigerated transport system. An experienced logistics team in our Basel office monitors the deliveries, and together with our partners, we ensure that the cold chain is maintained throughout until arrival at the European cold stores.
